Global Investor Visa

How long can I stay in the U.S. on an E-2 visa?

Initially, the E-2 visa permits you to reside in the United States for up to two years. Subsequently, the E-2 visa may be extended to two-year increments as long as you continue to meet the requirements of business ownership and meet the business visa requirements. There is no requirement for a specific number of E-2 visa renewals; virtually, as long as your business is active, and you are working in it for years to come! Note that even though you can renew the visa for many years, the E-2 visa status is still considered non-immigrant status, which until you receive an immigration visa or green card, the E-2 visa will not immediately allow or provide permanent residency in the U.S.
